A friend of mine asked me to make a bib for her friend whose family is into rodeo. The baby is a girl so this is what I came up with. I am working on a second one with a different picture. I will add that one to this post when I finish it. These bibs are so nice because they are made from kitchen towels, this one from a bar mop towel and are easily washed.
This is the second bib my friend asked me to make. Next up I will look for some fabric of fire trucks I think she wanted, I will have to ask her again.

Tag Rag
This is a taggie I made this morning for Kastyn. Its about 12 inches square. These can be made any size and you can use any ribbon and rick rack you have. I cut my ribbon pieces 5 inches. The color on the pix isn't very good one side is a lime green with flowers and the other side is a sort of purple cloudy print.Be sure that you do not leave these in the crib or where the baby is sleeping because there is always he possibility that they can wrap their tiny fingers up in the ribbon. If this concerns you you can remedy that by only sewing one end of the ribbon into the seam and tying a knot at the other end.

A POEM
A clothesline was a news forecast
To neighbours passing by,
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.
It also was a friendly link
For neighbours always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.
For then you'd see the "fancy sheets"
And towels upon the line;
You'd see the "company table cloths"
With intricate designs.
The line announced a baby's birth
From folks who lived inside -
As brand new infant clothes were hung,
So carefully with pride!
The ages of the children could
So readily be known
By watching how the sizes changed,
You'd know how much they'd grown!
It also told when illness struck,
As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,
Haphazardly were strung.
It also said, "Gone on vacation now"
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, "We're back!" when full lines sagged
With not an inch to spare!
New folks in town were scorned upon
If wash was dingy and gray,
As neighbours carefully raised their brows,
And looked the other way .. . .
But clotheslines now are of the past,
For dryers make work much less.
Now what goes on inside a home
Is anybody's guess!
I really miss that way of life.
It was a friendly sign
When neighbours knew each other best
By what hung on the line.
I remember everyone giggling about how the diapers were hung on the line and it meaning the baby would soon be here. Mom was getting ready or nesting as they used to call it. A friend of mine and I were talking about a mom who had a scheduled C-section and her milk hadn't come in and the baby hasn't had a wet diaper in 24 hours. We discussed that our bodies know when to have milk when we have our babies in God's time and not the doctors.

Belly Butter
I found a site that has instructions for making home made belly butter for pregnant ladies. I wanted to get it on here so I don't loose it.
Here is the link:http://www.keeperofthehome.org/2010/09/homemade-belly-butter-all-natural-pampering-for-pregnant-mamas-2.html
If you go to her site she has detailed instructions for making it as well as several pictures. Seeing as how I have a daughter who is hoping to have a baby soon I thought this would be a good thing to make for her.

Its official. I'm gonna be grandma again.

Kaleena and Justin went to the doctor and its now official. I am going to be a grandma again. She is due between Feb. 27th and March 1st. Right now Kaleena is 8 weeks along. The baby is the size of a kidney bean so I am now grandma to a beanie baby. Ok, I have a strange sense of humor. I thought it was funny.

Fun time with Shelley
Yesterday Hannah, dad and I drove to Dodge to bring dad home and to pick up Mollie. My sisters and I had a meeting with dad and decided to give him a week to get busy doing more things for himself and takeing responsibility for his therapy.
We asked him to do better at taking care of himself and getting dressed. We have a lady who will check on him every morning to be sure he is dressed and doing good.
We are also checking into getting a life line that connects directly with the local fire/ambulance/rescue department. If we can find someone to come check on him at least twice a day and make sure he has dressed himself and is doing his physical therapy we decided to let him try to stay in his apartment for now.
He knows we only have his best interest at heart. My sisters and brother in law both work and are sometimes in meetings for hours and I am two hours away so its imperative that we come to an agreement on dad's care.
He agreed to do his part so we have decided to reevaluate in one week.
Hannah and I stayed with Kent and Shelley Korrell in Spearville, my cousins last night. We stayed up until 2:30am talking. We need to get together more often so we don't have so much catching up to do.
I helped Shelley learn to use her sewing machine. She picked it up incredibly fast. She is a quick study. Shelley had purchased flannel to make several of the bone shaped burp rags. It turned out that she had enough fabric to make about 24 or so. She also bought fabric to make two dresses each for her two girls. We cut one out and I helped her begin the sewing process. I was amazed how quick she picked up sewing. I made a pattern for some shorts for her little boy so they can all have matching outfits for the 4th of July.
On the way home we stopped at Wal Mart where I purchased some flannel so I can make some burp cloths too. Christina is pregnant and I want to get started making things for her and the baby.
