Thought for the day

Contrary to popular opinion...
Nobody owes you anything.

  1. I think I understand this viewpoint... it's similar to when someone says, "It's not fair!" and you can honestly reply, "Life is not fair." Of course, we know, that in the end it will all be perfectly fair, but it rarely seems like it before then. Our Father in Heaven is perfectly just AND merciful. We don't need to worry about anything in that regard. As with money, etc., people often don't pay what they "owe." And yet, I would suggest that we owe each other a great deal... respect, kindness, patience, love, help when needed... because we are all literally sons and daughters of God.

  2. Yolanda,
I intended it more like no one owe you a living, you need to work for it kind of thing. Its the sense of entitlement that so many younger folks have. The Bible even says if we dont work we dont eat.2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

I do disagree that we are all literally sons and daughters of God. Unless and until we give God our life and are adopted by him, we are not his sons and daughters. He loves us but we have no place with him until we repent and come to him.

I do agree we owe each other respect, kindness, patience, love and help when needed. The Bible directs us to do that, even to love our enemies.
