kitchen
I was reading a post and I looked over at my kitchen and realized I am working up a storm. LOL My rice cooker is cooking brown rice with a little bit of wild rice and chicken broth for lunch. My washer and dryer and doing my clothes. The bread machine is making a loaf of bread for supper and I am able to work on my computer at the same time.
I deep cleaned my stove this morning. Whew what a mess.
Its a beautiful cool day. I turned on the water for the greenhouse. Cleaned the kitchen.
The girls are doing their school work. Joy's geometry books came in and she is excited. They are teaching textbooks, they have ACT and SAT test lessons built right in. Every single problem is explained. She thinks they will be good.

Church supper
We had our monthly church supper last night. We had a cook out and invited everyone we could think of. We have three churches in town and a few in the country. I know we had people from at least four churches. It was so good to gather as believers not as denominations. We are really coming together as believers lately. I like it. Our preacher loves to smoke meat, so he smoked 30 pounds of chicken leg quarters and when it was all over there were very few pieces left he said. It was a great turn out. Saturday we are going to a quilting bee. I will take pictures and tell you more about it later. My girls love the quilting bee's.

Kefir
My kefir multiplies like crazy. I send some to friends and still it goes crazy. I finally had to put some to dry again to store in the freezer. I have never tried to use from the freezer because mine is more than enough. It takes up the space in the jar and I have to keep using bigger and bigger jars. I wanted to take a picture to show how I dry mine out to put in the freezer. I just spread it out on paper towels and place paper towels over it to keep out pesky flies or whatnot. I stir it every day with clean hands until it is very dry. I then label it and keep it in the freezer.
I would be glad to send anyone in the continental united states some kefir for $5.00 to cover postage and packaging. Email me at bootstrapdko@yahoo.com please write kefir in the memo section so I will know its not spam.

Pizza
Today the girls and I made home made pepperoni pizza for lunch with some for leftovers. Here is my recipe.
1 1/2 c. warm water
2 heaping T. yeast
2 T. sugar
let stand a few minutes for it to begin to bubble
I make this in my kitchen aid mixer.
After the mixture is getting bubbly, I add 3 T. oil
1 t. salt
I then begin to add flour. I don't measure anything hardly so I don't know how much I add. I just add some, mix add some, mix, until it pulls away from sides and feels good. I then let the mixer mix it with the dough hook for a few minutes. Let rest a few minutes and then pat and roll out onto greased or oiled pizza pans.
Sauce recipe
1 can tomato paste or tomato sauce (if using paste I add 2 cans of water)
1 beef bullion cube
1 pinch sugar
2T. basil
2T.Italian seasoning
1 t. garlic salt
Let this simmer for a few minutes.
Spread the sauce on to your pizzas and top as desired.

Babies
Today we helped a couple of teachers out because their regular daycare provider was sick. We had a sweet little 1 1/2 month old boy named Kolby and a pretty little 11 month old girl named Camden. My girls worked hard yesterday to get most of their school work done so they could play with the babies. It sure made me realize how old I am getting. My bones are creaking and my legs hurt. All I did was clean whilst the girls babysat. I helped some of course.
This evening we start the kids church program back up for the year. We are all helping except Hannah who will be participating. Jeff and I volunteered to do the snacks. Joy will teach a class and I'm not sure what Mollie wants to do. We will see tonight what we really end up doing. LOL
We had a nice family reunion in Clovis NM over Labor day. Not a very big turn out but good to see all who came. Joy motioned to have the reunion at our house next year and the vote carried. So I told the girls, we have a year to get the house ready for the reunion.
Actually I do want to build an outdoor kitchen before the reunion. I want it to be enclosed with screen and be big enough to actually have fun in. I kind of have it planned out in my head. We will see what gets done.
It has been sprinkling here all day, thank you Jesus, so we just pulled stone and didn't make any today. We will make some tomorrow. We have 150 sq. ft. to finish up this order. Next Monday we will start on the next order which is only two days worth.
take care and have a great day.
