Subject: Blog, June 29, 2011I’m on the road to Pemba for government meetings in a few hours, but wanted to give you a quick update on the last 10 days.
FOUR WATER WELLS IN MELUCO county are being marked this week, and drilling will begin next week. The water spotting team is having trouble finding water in 2 of the villages, but the team continues to search the area with the help of the “old timers” who know where the water has been in decades past.
The Elephant Village HAS UNDERGROUND WATER, and so does our mission station, so those 2 wells will not be a problem. It is sad that these other 2 desperatte villages may actually have to move if water cannot be located for them.
We spent our last 10 days buying 5 tons of rice (in the hull), and 1.5 tons of peanuts still in the shell. It keeps very well for up to a year without spoilage if left in the wrapping that God gave it.
Tonight we are having a going away party for Dave Deboer, who goes to Pemba with me tomorrow. His 6 weeks with us are up, and it is time for him to fly back to the USA.He will be GREATLY missed. We send our thanks to his wife for allowing him to come for his 3rd trip in 3 years to give us a helping hand. Dave’s gift is “helps”, and he is very good at it.He did a great job in orientating Don Hitsman to continue in his footsteps, as Don won’t leave till Aug. 13th.
Both these men have done a great job in taking many burdens off my back during this food buying time.
The three young women are busy doing many evangelical dramas and have organized a Youth Night for teenagers.
Linda Stanley keeps us all in smiles as she ramrods the kitchen, keeping us all very well fed.
Eric is busy training Rebecca Harris to make Christian radio programs in Makua and she is now completing programs on her own. This is a big help for Eric.
All is well, and we appreciate your prayers.Blessings, BBB and the Balama Team
I am happy to hear that Becca is doing fine. If you remember I told you that her mom hadnt heard from her since the 14th. Thank God for his protection and provision for all of us.
