Making yogurt then cream cheese

I am making a whole gallon of yogurt today, then I will drain it for cream cheese. Let me do a cost breakdown. One gallon of milk 2.88 makes one gallon of yogurt.

I bought a quart of yogurt for starter, this will start at least two gallons of yogurt. 2.50 approx. so 1.50 for the yogurt.

This will make about 32 oz. of cream cheese which is 1.69 per 8 oz. so 1.69 X 4= 6.76 for store bought, home made is 4.38 for the same amount. Not a bad savings, plus it tastes so much better and is so creamy for spreading.

I use it for sour cream, thick yogurt or cream cheese. Plus you have the whey.

You can flavor it or leave it plain.
I use the recipe from Candy's site.
