2018 Goals

In this new year of 2018 some things I want to accomplish are as follows...
  • Sew a bunch of doll clothes, both for an 18 inch doll and a baby doll
  • Sew aprons.  Pretty and sweet aprons.  I also want to get a non tie or Mobius apron pattern and make some of them.
  • Help my niece sew her diaper stash for her coming little blessing
  • Try to remember to send a card for everyone's birthday.
  • Exercise more.
  • Continue to down size my stuff.
  • Decide on a floor plan for my retirement home.  Specifically the kitchen, dinning and living-room areas.
  • Hire someone to paint the walls and ceilings in my house.
  • Hire someone to lay new flooring in my house.
  • Sell a lot of my crafts on Etsy (this will also help me downsize that area)
  • Make twiddle mats for elderly nursing home patients.
I'll have to come back and add to this list and see how I am doing on it.

Do you make goals for yourself for the next year?  If so, what kinds of goals do you strive for?

Goals for this new year.

I typically do not make new years resolutions because they are hard to keep, I do however set goals.  This year my goals are to clean and de clutter my house, shop much less, eat at home more often, eat out less and to write letters and cards often.

I started my card and letter writing before the end of the year.  I am trying to write about six letters a week.  So far I have been able to do that.  I know my letter writing skills are not very good because I have not used them in so long.  I will be going through my address book and writing to old friends, new friends and relatives.  I don't care if they don't want to write back I just thought it would be a good thing to do.

On the cleaning and de cluttering part, I have started and feel much better in a simple and clear environment.  I don't think my sewing room will ever be un cluttered just because of all the fabric and sewing machines and items I have in there but that is no reason it cant be clean and neat.  And let me tell you it sure was not clean or neat before yesterday.  I had never let it get so messy.  ugh.  It was so bad I could not even sit down to sew a seam.  I spent a couple of hours in there yesterday and its much better but there is still a way to go on it.

When Joy and Mollie were here over the Christmas break they packed up my store that I had had in my garage.  I want to paint that room and put some beds in there so it will be easier when we have company.  And also company can feel like they have their own space to be.

Are you making and keeping goals for the new year?  If so, what are they?  Leave a comment and tell me about them.

Soap making goals

I am going to try to make two batches of soap a day for the next two weeks. If I do this six days a week, in two weeks I can have twenty four batches of soap made. Each batch makes about 35 bars of soap. 35 times 24 equals 840 bars of soap. Soap takes three weeks to cure, so it would be ready mid May.
There is a corner on highway 412 east of Tulsa that folks put up tables and sell various things. I am hoping to set up there and sell my soap. If I can do that and save the money it will help us with our moving plans.

Learn something new

When was the last time you learned a new skill?
Do you have things you want to learn to do?
Why not make it a goal for the new year to learn that skill?
I was reflecting on things I have learned since moving to western Oklahoma four years ago.
Here is my list of what I have learned.
Large scale gardening.
Built a greenhouse with cattle panels.
Raised a meat steer.
Raised goats.
Milked goats.
Raised chickens.
Built a chicken coop
The chickens laid eggs (yum)
Butchered chickens (yuck)
Learned to can meat.
Learned to make soap.
Learned to grind my own wheat flour.
Learned to make laundry soap.
Learned to make dish soap.
Learned to make dish washer soap.
Learned to make cough syrup.
Learned to make tinctures.
The list is pretty long. Also just because I learned to make dish soap and dish washer soap doesn't mean I like home made. Candy was asking what the other ladies want to learn to do this year. I am thinking what I want to learn to do.
What about you? What are some things you want to learn to do this year?
