Some canning pictures

The last picture shows Mollie at the sink and me in the blue apron. Mollie likes to help can. She does a good job.

My pantry downstairs

The first picture is of Mollie and Hannah taking inventory. The second picture is of one set of shelves in the basement pantry.

Yummy kefir smoothie

I am not a fan of kefir straight. I like to use it in cooking in place of buttermilk or milk. I have been wanting to try a kefir smoothie. I finally broke down and made one some.
Here is what I put in;
kefir
honey
vanilla
banana
ice
It is actually really good. I am glad for a way to use the kefir. I didn't care for it before I put the banana in. Now I am thinking I should have put some cocoa powder in too. Maybe next time. If you have kefir smoothie recipes other than this would you share please?
I am also interested in weather this is a high, medium or low calorie drink.

Stamping up

I went to a stamping up thing tonight with a friend. We made a couple of the cutest Valentine things. A girl could sure get wrapped up in that fun stuff.

Visiting

The other day I mentioned that we needed to visit others more often. Today we visited some folks and it was sure nice. We decided that we would try to visit two families each day we go visiting. We are going to try to go visiting twice a week if possible. This is a great thing to do. It sure helped us.
Is there something you can do to help others? Going visiting didn't cost a thing but our time.
This week try to do something for someone else that you normally don't do.

Food for thought

The Greek and Hebrew language contain a different word for the second person singular and the second person plural pronouns.
Today we use the one-word "you" for both the singular and plural.
But because the translators of the 1611 King James Bible desired an accurate, word-for-word translation of the Hebrew and Greek text - they could NOT use the one-word "you" throughout!
If it begins with "t" (thou, thy, thine) it's SINGULAR, but if it begins with "y" (ye) it's PLURAL. Ads for the NKJV call it "the Accurate One", and yet the 1611 King James, by using "thee", "thou", "ye", is far more accurate!

By the way, if the "thee's" and "thou's" are ". . .no longer part of our language" - why aren't the NKJV translators rushing to make our hymnbooks "much clearer"? "How Great Thou Art" to "How Great You Are", or "Come Thou Fount" to "Come You Fount" Doesn't sound right, does it? Isn't it amazing that they wouldn't dare "correct" our hymns - and yet, without the slightest hesitation, they'll "correct" the word of God!

New fabric

Last evening when Jeff and I were on our anniversary date we stopped at walmart. I was browsing the fabric section when the lady said some of the Christmas fabric was .61 per yard. I ended up with 3 full bolts and several yardages. I picked fabric that didn't necessarily look Christmassy. I will make aprons and bags from the fabric.
I need to keep my eyes open for a pink sheet, printed or plain to make a new shower curtain. I washed ours yesterday and it isn't coming totally clean so its time to replace it. It has hard water looking stains on it even though we have a whole house water softener. Maybe the stains are something else.

Canning jars

The day before yesterday I put an ad on ptci asking for pint canning jars. I said I could pay a nominal fee. A man called today and said he had about 40 jars. When we got there it turned out he had more like 10 or 11 dozen jars. I gave him a bar of soap and a hand cleaner sample.
He said he didn't need the jars any more because his wife had died and he didn't can. Bless his heart.
What a blessing. I looked at the store and they were 9.99 per dozen for pint wide mouth. I didn't buy any. I am so excited about this blessing. I thanked the man profusely.

Brrrr

Oh baby its cold outside. Brrrr.
Jeff wants to take me out for supper for our anniversary. He wants to eat at a mexican place. Sounds good to me. We have packages to mail, soap to deliver and jars to pick up as well as a few things needed at walmart.

I am just finishing up a glass of fresh carrot juice. Yummy.

Need to feed my sourdough and reboot my kefir. Ok got that done.

I need to package some hand cleaner to mail to someone in Missouri. ok got that done.
Now we just have to head out before the post office closes.

Paise God

Jeff got his job offer. Thank you Jesus. He starts Monday. I cant tell you how relieved we are. You don't even realize how on edge you have been.
Today is our anniversary, what a gift. God is so awesome.

Dedicated gardener

Try to tell this apartment dweller that you cant garden because you don't have any yard. I love it. Imagine tomatoes and herbs and lettuce. I am ready to garden. We purchased some 2x6's so we can begin making our raised beds anytime the weather lets us.

Global Warming

Just a note for you to stay warm. The pipes might freeze tonight. Open the doors by your sinks. My daughter who lives in Missouri has her washer and dryer in her garage. One of her water pipes froze and began leaking.
I am sure its because of the global warming.
Is that what they call an oxymoron?

Visiting others

While sitting in the funeral today I realized that my girls and I don't do enough visiting. I told Hannah that we need to spend one or two afternoons a week just visiting folks. She right away named a person she thought we should visit so this was an indication to me that it is a good idea. We need to visit those who are new in town, the elderly, new parents and the sick to name a few. The list could go on and on.
It would also be a good way to witness and to invite people to church. We are learning in Sunday school about how we must be the church. We cant expect the preacher to do all the work, we must work as well.
There are a lot of hurting folks on this earth. If we can do anything to ease their pain then we should do it.
I have been having a tendency of only thinking about my life and what is going on in it. I need to raise my eyes and look around and see what is going on with others.
