Sad news
My cousin Brian is married to the sweetest gal named Stephanie. She just found out that her step dad has liver cancer and is not doing well. Of course her whole family is devastated. Stephanie and Brian have six of the cutest kids ever. I went to school with her mom. Its such a sad thing. I promised her I would pray for all of them. Brian's dad, my uncle died not all that long ago. The kids are losing grandpa's way too fast.
My heart just aches for them. Bless their hearts. Stephanie is so sweet.

Drying Jalapeno peppers
Oven Drying Instructions
Wash your jalapeno peppers thoroughly after picking to remove any dirt.
Cut them in half, lengthwise to expose the pepper innards.
Arrange the jalapenos over a baking sheet.
Bake at low heat, about 100 to 135 degrees.
There is no set time to bake the jalapeno peppers for drying. Keep an eye on them, turning every few minutes or so. You can leave the oven door cracked for some air flow. Keep in the oven until the moisture has been baked out of them. Use as desired!

In this case, dry your peppers whole. Do not slice.
String them together on some strong thread with a few inches between each jalapeno peppers.
Hang the peppers in direct sunlight. Be sure it is dry and warm.
It can take several weeks for the jalapenos to completely dry with this method, but it'll be worth it!
What can you do with your dried jalapeno peppers?
Grind them up to make your own jalapeno pepper powder, which is like cayenne powder, or keep them whole ans use them as you might use a sun dried tomato. They can be rehydrated with water and go great with any recipe!

2 additional jalapeno peppers, diced and seeded
4 -1/4 cups granulated sugar
1-1/2 cups apple cider vinegar
4 ounces liquid pectin
pinch salt
Cooking Directions
To a sauce pan, add chopped jalapeno peppers an cider vinegar.
Bring it to a boil then reduce heat to low. Simmer 15 to 20 minutes.
Strain the mixture through at least 2 layers of cheesecloth and remove the pulp.
Add strained liquid back into saucepan. Stir in salt and sugar. Mix to dissolve.
Increase heat and boil about 1 minute. Stir in pectin.
Add diced jalapeno peppers and mix.
Add mixture to sterile jars leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
Seal jars in a hot water bath and refrigerate.

New Products
I am developing a few new products today. So far I have made a Gardeners Scrub and a body scrub. I want to work on salt scrubs next.The sugar scrub is made with Pink Monkey Soap. It leaves your hands clean and soft.
What a glorious day
After my bout of sickness on Saturday, I woke up Sunday feeling great. We had a good service at church even though we don't have a preacher. We are watching a man preach via closed circuit TV, or what ever its called. He is a young (in his 30's ) preacher and he does a good job.
After our Easter dinner, which we changed the menu of again, we all had naps.
At about three we headed to Dodge City, Ks. to visit family. We had a really good time. I hadn't seen many of them since Christmas. I need to go more often.
I took along soap, some stone drip things and two sets of 10 commandment stones. My sister is going to take them to a shop to sell on consignment. The owner also wants to sell my soap. He owns a flower shop in a high traffic mall. So I will get some made up to take there for him to sell.
We left Dodge at 9pm so it was dark. Mollie needed some night driving hours. We were almost home, within 5 miles when I saw three deer crossing the road. I yelled, watch out for the deer, Hannah closed her eyes, I braced myself for the impact and Mollie slammed on the brakes and managed to drive between two of the deer. I exclaimed Thank You Jesus. It was by His help that we didn't hit a deer, they were so close together. That was a scary experience. Mollie did a good job.
Today Mollie has to go to the dentist to get two fillings. Then we will schedule again to get two more.
We will be finishing the stone order we are working on now today. Then we will begin cleaning the molds and trays. We always clean the molds and trays when we are done with each order, it helps the molds last longer and makes it easier to pour the next time. When the molds and trays are all cleaned we will use the forklift to exchange the type of mold in the shed with the style that is in there. We hope to have an order in a few days to begin with that style of mold.
Today I need to make a batch of lotion. (d0ne)

start labeling and packaging soap for the flower shop in the mall at Dodge.
Make some gardeners hand scrub

Two really cool blogs/sites
I found two really cool sites. One is called Making due with the not so new. The other is called Cheap and cheerful. Both sites are crafty sites that deal with using or reusing I should say items for crafts. The pictures above are about how to keep the electric fence line free of weeds by using shingles. I know when we had electric fence we always had trouble keeping the weeds from shorting out the wire. Junk2Jewels rummage sale
Yesterday and today is the Junk 2 Jewels rummage sale. We are selling seedlings, some rummage sale items and Pink Monkey Soap. I found a few bargins too.I got a brand new still in the box with instructions kitchen seed sprouter like the one pictured above for $3.00. I also got 2 stick blenders for $1.00 each. A glass pitcher that is round and green with a bubble look for $1.00, we had one like it when I was a kid. A glass refrigerator dish with lid for $1.00 and a stacking laundry basket thing for $8.00. Also a footstool for $2.00 and a jar lifter for canning for $1.00.
I traded some of the stuff for a jar of my homemade lotion so I only paid $11.00 out of pocket.
I am going to wash the sprouter and start some sprouts. They will be good in salads and on sandwiches.
I woke up this morning at about 2:30am with a massive headache and a tummy ache and felt hot and sweaty. Jeff and the girls are doing the rummage sale thing for me so I can stay at home. I am washing laundry and taking it easy. I feel better except my head. I will take some pain reliever in a bit and see if that helps. I also ache right now. I know I will be fine soon.
It was fun finding the bargins, makes me feel ready to start going rummage shopping again.

Loaves and Fishes
Yesterday the girls and I worked at Loaves and Fishes. Its the food bank for our county. It was very interesting. They are in a new building and its very nice. I enjoyed working with friends and meeting new people.
A lot of thoughts go through your head when you work there. For instance a family may come in and get food and then take it out to a brand new car. Or a family may come in that hasn't been there in a while.
One lady said she was there for the second time, (they can come twice in a 30 day period, with a letter from one of the local churches). Her records indicated that she needed a new letter, we told her so through a translator and told her to come back after she got a new letter. She did come back later and brought another lady for food but she didn't bring a letter for herself. Finally through the translator we found out that they had told her that it had only been 8 days and she couldn't have another letter yet. We began looking and digging and found out that someone had not written down the date of her last visit and she was correct about the time line. We apologized and got the lady some food.
I was really glad we discovered what had happened, she said she didn't have food at home.
I also found out that I can donate extra soap I make. I was glad to hear it because I have a lot of seasonal scented soap I was wondering what to do with besides use. We can only use so much for ourselves.
We work again this coming Thursday and I will take some soap then.

On September 25, 2009, from 4 am until 7pm, a National Day of Prayerfor the Muslim religion was held on Capitol Hill, beside theWhite House.
There were over 50,000 Muslims that day in DC.
Guess it doesn't matter if "Christians" are offended by this event - we
obviously don't count as "anyone" anymore.
The direction this country is headed should strike fear in the heart of every
Christian. Especially knowing that the Muslim religion
believes that if Christians cannot be converted, they shouldbe annihilated.

Wasp sting
Yesterday at around noon I grabbed the door handle in the garage and was stung by a wasp. It hurt like the dickens. Last time I was stung my whole arm swelled up like a boxing glove. It didn't seem that bad this time. I ran hot water over it for as long as I could stand it. Things seemed OK. This morning when I woke up the hand was swollen, red and itching like crazy. I scratched it till I thought it would break through the skin, then I ran hot water over it again. Is still swollen and itchy but not as bad.
So I spoke too soon about not being allergic any more. I guess I need to keep benadril on hand this spring.
There is a nest of those pesky wasps somewhere around the garage. I am praying we find it so we can destroy the source.

We will have to leave at 3pm so we can get home and changed to make stone. Then shower and attend the last day of Holy week services which are at our church today. Last night they were at the Bethel Baptist church in the country. I sat there wishing we could all just worship together all the time. I know I have to wait until heaven for that, and it will be glorious.
