My latest crochet projects

I have made several hot pads but I thought these two were cute because one looks like a watermelon and the other looks like candy corn.

I saw this on Facebook when I was still on there and recognized both the stitch and the yarn.  I copied the picture and I love how it turned out.

This baby afghan is done in white I love this yarn from Hobby Lobby.  The pattern is called, Call the midwife.

This pattern is the virus pattern and is a pink and gray baby afghan.

This is a C2C or corner afghan.  The completed afghan is below.

The completed C2C afghan.  I made this for my daughter Brooke on the occasion of her marriage. 

I also made this afghan for Brooke and Alex on for their wedding.  They get married one week from today.

This is another C2C afghan.

I have also been crocheting hats for children who are less fortunate than us.  I will try to take a few pictures of the hats one of these days.

Fancy baby afghans

I am working on the third fancy baby afghan in the same pattern.  Its the hardest pattern I've ever made.  It's quite pretty but sure is complicated.  Of course by the third one I'm getting the hang of it.  I will tell you that when I finish the last blue one I will put away my crochet hooks for a while.  I have concentrated on these afghans because I am on a time frame.  But I am longing to get back to the sewing machine.
Here is the first afghan I made with this pattern.

I think its just as pretty on the reverse side as it is the front.  It is suppose to have a ribbon threaded through the pink part just inside of the ruffle, but I am going to let the customer pick out her own ribbon and place it there.

Here is the first blue afghan completed.  Again the customer will add her own ribbon.

This is what the main body of the afghan looks like, here I am nearly done with that part.

I am almost done with the second blue afghan.  I started the gray last night so just a few more evenings and it will be done. 

Baby afghans

Lately I have been crocheting baby afghans.  I am working on a very complicated one for a sister in law and when it gets too much for me I put it down and work on something not so intense.  Since I started the fancy one I have completed two more simple baby afghans.  Both in the Call the midwife pattern.  The latest one is the gray, pink and white one which I added a fancy border to.  The white one can easily have a fancy border added either in white or other colors or left as is. 
I seem to go through phases where I sew a lot, weave a lot, crochet a lot or whatever.  Right now I am crocheting.

Virus pattern

I have been wanting to learn the virus crochet pattern for a while.  I tried it once and just couldn't figure it out.  I had some time a couple of weeks ago so I printed the instructions out and then watched a video and figured it out.  I figured a baby blanket would be a good small project to start with.

I ran out of yarn so while I waited to get more I started another blanket in lilac with yarn I had on hand.  In the mean time I found out that the variegated yarn I had used in the first afghan had been discontinued so I decided to finish it in pink.  Here is the finished pink and variegated baby afghan.  I should finish up the lilac one today.

The virus pattern also lends itself well to a shawl.  I may try one of those now that I have the pattern figured out.

Crochet

In addition to these last month I crochet 15 hats for our mission group and 14 this month as well as a few gifts.  I guess you could say I like to crochet.

Crochet

I have been so busy with crochet orders.  I had thought that after Christmas I would be done but I tjhink I have more orders than I did before the holidays.

I've been busy

I have been busy the last few weeks, crocheting and sewing.  Hannah and I go to craft sales and fairs on weekends so I have been trying to get my stock built up so I can sell things too.  Lately I have been making more bibs as always and crocheting nylon net scrubbies and just recently began crocheting the tops of kitchen towels.  I used to do that all the time and kind of got away from it.  I found some real nice towels the other day so I decided to make more.  If they don't sell I know my kinds would like them.

     I'm very excited because it appears that this new to me computer is letting me post text as well as pictures from my files.  Jeff got a new one at work and they let him buy his old one, which wasn't very old for a reasonable price so we bought it of course.  He had to send it in to the company so they could wipe out any of their company files and now I have a super nice laptop. 
     Now that I can post more I will try to keep up on my blog a little better.

Im a busy bib maker

This is some of what Ive been up to lately.  My bibs are selling well at the craft shop I belong to so I have been making more to replace the stock Ive sold.  Ive also been making other things like bag bags and bowl covers.  This week I also have the four square hot pads on my adjenda to make.  It seems like Ive made a lot of bibs but when you actually count them there are not that many.  I need to be making things every day.

Im pretty excited that I am able to make blog posts today.  I miss being able to blog more often.  I am hoping the issue resolves itself or I figure it out.  One way or another.

Granny ripple afghan

The other day a friend and I were looking through an antique store and the clerk was crocheting a granny ripple afghan.  I commented to her that I had been going to try to learn that stitch.  She asked me if I wanted her to make a copy of the directions.  I said yes, came home and sat down to learn it.  I'm using yarn I already have so it would not be my first color choice but I like it anyway.  The first two rows I had to pay close attention to the directions and then after the third row I was off.  Its a neat stitch and would make a great scrap afghan.

I will try to remember to post pictures once its done.

Easy Sashay Scarves

I made four of these pretty scarves today.  Someone pointed out a great tutorial on you tube that makes it easy for anyone to make these.  I will link the video in case you want to try your hand at making them.  They seem to be all the rage right now.

Watch this video to learn an easy way to make these scarves.  I did modify it and looped on 10 instead of 9 so they scarves are a bit more full.

Still busy crafting

Mollie built two jigs to make paracord bracelets and key chains.  This shows a bracelet I am making.

I have also been busy crocheting these stretchy hair bands.  I also learned a way to make a stretch bracelet that I think will be great for children.

Mollie, Hannah and I went to town making these adorable felt hair bows.  They are so cute.

I found a place to get a pretty cheap rack to hang the bows on.  It will help display them and keep them from getting mashed. 

I have really good news.

The other day the ladies in my extension unit went to the next town over to tour the museum. The lady who runs the museum was not there when we got there so we visited several shops along the main street. In doing so I found a place to sell all those crafts I make. I am beyond excited. It’s a membership deal. I pay dues and have to work there 8 hours a month. They take care of the sales tax and the shop has been there for over 30 years and is quite well known.

I go Friday to bring a sampling of my crafts and get approved to join. I don’t think there will be any problem there. They are down to 5 members and need fresh crafters. I am so excited to have an outlet to sell my wares. It’s a win win situation for me. I can now craft as much as I want to and I will have a place to sell my crafts instead of just making them and stuffing them into totes.

I actually think that I have as much stuff made up as they have items in their store. It comes at just the right time because the town pioneer days are in April and they have over 100 vender's there and loads of visitors. I will get lots of exposure to my crafts.

I keep coming up with more ideas of things to make. This is a great way for me to earn a little bit of money. Mollie is going to make Para cord bracelets and key chains to sell there as well.

star coasters

I am attempting to reduce the size of my star hot pads small enough that they can be used as coasters.  I want them to be about three to four inches across.  Here is my first attempt at reducing the size.  I put a measuring stick and a regular sized hot pad next to it for comparison purposes.  You can see that it looks good but I still need to reduce it a little more.

Right now its about 6 inches across.

Crocheting up a storm

I sat down and learned the star hot pad pattern.  It is easy.  Then I just went to town crocheting hot pads.  So far there are 18 hot pads in this pile.

This pattern is quick and easy.  I can make a couple of them as we sit watching tv in the evening.  They make nice little gifts.

This is a fancier hot pad.  It took more time and wasnt quite as fun to make but its really pretty.  I made two of this pattern with different colors and one of another pattern before I found the star pattern and went to town with it.
