Worlds best pencil

Hannah and I were shopping for some school supplies.  She needed a few things for college and I buy those types of supplies this time of year because of the sales. 

 

I had heard about these pencils but had never tried them.  While we were shopping Hannah pointed them out to me because pencils were already on my list.  So I bought a package.  I got 30 pencils for $4.99.  Its pricey but if they really are the best pencils it will be worth it in the long run.

 

Ive already tried these pencils and I have to say I am impressed.  They seem to hold the point and they write quite nicely.  Have you ever used these pencils?  What is your feeling about them?

     Hannah's academic award.  Outstanding student in English.  Hannah has carried a 4.0 thus far in her college career. 
     Joy and Mollie attend college in Missouri and do quite well there but for some reason the school they attend does not do this award type of thing.  Its a pity too because all of my daughter have the drive, determination and heart to achieve great things in their academic careers.  My daughter Kaleena has a masters in curriculum and has taught 5th and 6th grade math and science and has now accepted a position to teach special education.  She is now working on her certificate for that.  I am so proud of all my girls and all the things they have accomplished.  I don't want to forget my oldest Brooke who works with the elderly and is a loving and caring caregiver whose patients love her.

AFBC Men's Quartet

Joy is taking finals this week at Bible college

Joy is taking finals this week at Bible college. She called a bit ago to tell me she got a 100% on one and ninety something on the next one. I am so proud of her. Her grades are 100% or above. She is the youngest in the college and is either at the top of her class or next to it.
I knew she would do well there.
Most 16 year olds are not able to do as well. She has since turned 17.
When she gets all her finals done I will post her grades.

ASL American Sign Language

The girls and I are studying ASL. I took it in college but it didn't stick because I didn't use it. Last year we tried to learn it and the girls did pretty good. This year I found a free online course here: http://www.start-american-sign-language.com/

It has a printable workbook and videos to watch every day. We already know the alphabet, a few signs and counting but it was hard to put together into sentences. This site starts out with sentences, albeit short ones that we can learn right away. The videos are looped and play over and over until you think you have the idea. We learned three phrases today. What is your name? How are you? and Nice to meet you.

There are grammar studies and other important parts of speech. I am very please with the program so far.

mail

I finished up four photographic orders and got them ready to mail. I also got a scooby ready to mail to my friend Amanda in Canada. It is good to have those things done so I don't have to worry about them.
This afternoon the girls and I are going to start making stone corners for an order. This will take 5 days, then we have an order that will take 7 days. We should be done with both of the orders in two weeks. It is not hard, but the corners are a two part process that extends out over three or four hours. Actual working time is about 45 min.
I think we will do the first part of the corners, then go to the library in the next town that has one which is 33 miles away. We should be able to do our stuff there and be back in time to do the second part on the corners.
Mollie is making hamburgers for lunch today. It smells good.
Our school officially starts next week. The girls are busy getting their books and shelves in order. I will be doing things a bit different this year. I have more combined reading, writing and discussion planned to help those with reading comprehension needs. We will also keep a closer eye on the ones who are not mine but need extra help.
The weather has been cool and rainy. Praise the Lord. Thank you Jesus for the rain. We need it so much.
