The wind

My daughter and son in law live near Branson Mo. The local christian radio station is called the wind. The station is doing something really neat. The radio station is doing what is called the drive thru difference. When you go thru a drive thru you ask to pay for the car behind you and ask them to hand the driver this note. You hand write a note that says.

Hi,
You don't know me but I just paid for your order. No gimmicks. Its just something I felt like doing. I heard about people doing things for others on 88.3 The Wind. They call it the "drive thru difference." Maybe you'll feel like doing it for someone else.

The stranger in the car ahead of you.

My son in law paid for a lady behind him the other day and he was later listening to the radio station when he heard this. A guy in a black -----pick up just paid for my order at the such and such drive thru. I was having a rough day and he really made my day. Thank you stranger in the car ahead of me.

The family was watching a movie and some guy learned Portuguese really easy. Well Hannah is having a time trying to pronounce Portuguese. It keeps coming out pork and cheese and porkacheese and porkageeze. She is crackin me up. Mollie told her to never say anything funny in front of mom because she will write about it on her blog.

Parade a success

We tossed all 700 soap samples and could have tossed 3,000. Next year we will be more prepared.
People are coming into The Breakfast Club talking about the name, Pink Monkey Soap and the soap. Buying soap and picking up my business card.
Kristy said she sold at least 10 bars of soap today alone. Yippie.
I made 4 batches of soap today and will make 4 more tomorrow. That way they can be curing while we are out of town.
Am thinking I need to get more essential oils ordered.
Gotta get more sugar scrub, gardeners hand scrub and salt scrubs made and delivered to The Breakfast Club before we leave this week.

Getting ready for the parade

The girls and I put together about 700 Pink Monkey Soap sample bags with soap, our new business card and a gospel tract. We like to use the million dollar bills or the coins with the ten commandments on them. The million dollar bills are very popular. We have handed out several hundred of these in the past few years. We are able to get them in English and Spanish. I think I need to find some Burmese tracts since Guymon is getting such a large population of the Burmese people.
We went to the Tuff enough to wear pink rodeo tonight and had a great time. I did wish I had worn one more layer of clothes as it got a bit chilly. A hat would have been nice too.
We have to get up early tomorrow so we can get to Guymon and get the truck washed, Pink Monkey Soap delivered to the Breakfast Club and get to the parade.
The Breakfast Club has a whole showcase reserved for Pink Monkey. I didn't even ask, they asked me. I am so excited and thrilled. Its good to have friends.
If you are in Guymon, stop in and have a meal at the Breakfast Club. They are open 6am to 2pm. They serve breakfast all the time and they have hamburgers, chicken fried steak and other great food.
I ate a chicken fried steak and it was great. Hand breaded. Yum.

Mollie stopped into the Chamber of Commerce to register us for the parade. When she wrote Pink Monkey Soap, the lady said, I keep hearing about Pink Monkey but every time I do a search on the web I just get weird things. I guess we better work on the old word search options.

Joys final grade in New Testament

Can you guess what Joy got on her final for New Testament class?
Yep, another 100. I am so surprised. LOL. Not really, she gets so embarrassed when I brag on here about her, but its my blog and she's my kid. I can brag a little.
I will say that she has done this all on her own and its a gift from God because anyone who really knows me knows she didn't get her smarts from me. Thanks God.
You would really know for sure it is true if I didn't have spell check.

Parade Time

Its Pioneer Days in Guymon this and next week. PRCA rodeo, parades, carnivals,craft shows, etc. Pink Monkey Soap will be in the parade. We will be driving our red pickup. The girls will be passing/tossing soap samples and candy. We are making up bags containing some soap samples, our business card and a gospel tract. We use the million dollar bills, the kids love them. We have them in Spanish and English.

I pick our business cards up at the printer tomorrow so we gotta get down to business and get the baggies made up.

Joy's Bible College

Linda at Beautifully Veiled left a comment about my having a child who has the opportunity to take a prophecy class and one that even wanted to. It got me to thinking about telling about the college Joy attends.

The post title is Joy's Bible College when in fact it is not Joy's college but the college she attends.
Now about the college.

The name of the Bible College is Apostolic Faith Bible College and it is located in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Its is way in the south east corner of Kansas. It is about 20 minutes or so from Joplin Missouri.

AFBC is a FREE college. The college is supported by Apostolic Faith Churches around the country and individuals, also other churches.

Students who attend the college are able to live in the dorms, FREE, get meals all week long, FREE and only pay a $25.00 per semester book fee. Students are even made meals that are placed in the fridge in the lunch room for weekend meals. The meals are leftovers from the week. Students must abide by a strict dress code and must follow all school rules. Drive in students may also attend FREE. Students are encouraged not to work if at all possible so they can devote time to study. Joy has been kept busy and hardly had time to get homesick.
She had a hard time the first month or so, but was kept busy and that helped keep the homesickness at bay.

She is a good student and so studies quite diligently and thoroughly. She was only 16 when she went to college. If she had been in public school she would only have been in her Junior year. She had enough credits to graduate so it seemed silly to make her continue to take classes in home school that were redundant. One thing we had talked about was doing online college which can count for both college and high school. We ended up sending her to AFBC because we felt she was ready and we wanted her to get such a firm foundation with God that it could never be shaken. I think she is at that point already.

Joy got a 100 on her final in prophesy. So far,100 on both finals today. More tomorrow. I am such a proud mommy. Go Joy.

Machine Embroidery

My friend Kristy who opened the new restaurant in Guymon, The Breakfast Club, asked me for help. She wanted her waitresses to have their names on their aprons. I have an embroidery machine that is attached to my sewing machine. The aprons she bought are reversible so I realized that if I embroider right on the pocket it would make part of that pocket useless. My solution was to make a patch with the names on them and then use washable glue to attach it.

I am proud of Joy, she made a 100 on her final in her doctrine class. I knew she would do good in college.

Candy's multipurpose solution

Candy over at keeping the home posted a video of herself making multi purpose solution. Her recipe is to get a spray bottle, any size, and put 1/2 white vinegar to 1/2 water in the bottle. She then put in about 10 drops of tea tree oil for extra antibacterial properties. She says she uses this solution for everything from windows and mirrors to surfaces.

I have made a similar solution without the tea tree oil. I think I will put some in my solution.

One thing we do around here is when we need a bucket of soapy water for floor washing we use Pink Monkey liquid soap and add a dash of lemon oil. The lemon scent gives the house a clean fresh smell. I have many essential oils because of y soap making. A few times we have used white magnolia in the soap water, but the smell is overwhelming to me so we usually stick with the lemon oil.

Make your own dish soap.
To make your own dish soap just measure about 6 cups of water into a deep pan. Heat to boiling. Meanwhile grate a bar of soap into a bowl or what I do is grate the odd ends and scraps of soap I have saved in the bathroom in a bowl. When the water is boiling, turn the heat down to med and add the grated soap. Stir until all the soap is melted. Be sure to watch carefully, because this will foam up and get on the stove. Its easy to clean up because its soap but its better not to make a mess. When the soap has melted, turn the heat off and let set until cool. You can pour the mixture into a clean soap jug and it will thicken up over the course of two days. If you want to you can add tea tree oil, lemon oil or some other essential oil for a delightful scent.
