Treadle sewing machine
I just bought a new Janome 712 T sewing machine. My plan was to put it in place of my old treadle machine. I ran into some problems of course. The bolt/ latch things are too widely spaced and too large to fit the holes in the machine. So now I'm looking for a new top to replace the antique cabinet with and the correct sized bolt/ latch things. I can use the base part of the treadle machine though. I wrote to the company that I bought the machine from to see if they have the correct size bolt/ latch things and am waiting to hear back from them.

Eating out
Every time we stop for a burger or even a nice meal we are taking a gamble. Most of the time it's a losing one too. Jeff and I were talking today after stopping for a burger on the way home from church about how we always hope the food will be good but it seldom is. I bet only once in twenty times is it worth it. So why do we keep trying? Good question because I don't know.
So many times the place is dirty, the service and food is sub standard and we waste our money. I am going to make a real effort to stop hoping for a better outcome and just make all of our meals at home. I wonder how many people actually cook the majority of their meals?
I have to just make sure to keep soup and sandwich items on hand for times when I don't feel like cooking a big meal. I rarely make food with mixes and almost always cook from scratch.
Do any of you have any suggestions or tips for me?

Beach time
I took the girls to the beach this morning. We stayed until a bit past noon. We sure had a good time but are tired out.
This evening the girls had a jam session. Lots of fun times here.

Visitor
My granddaughter of my heart Courtney is here for a few days. She has a list of things to do with meema and I have a list of things to do with her.
She likes to sew, crochet and craft. So of course we do those things together.
She also plays the banjo so hannah and her practice together. Hannah's broken foot prevents her from playing basketball but they did go kayaking the other evening.
I am enjoying our time together. I wish I could spend time with my granddaughters in Wyoming.

Getting my Boutique ready to open
The sign is made for out front.
This is a display I did for a trunk show at a neighboring town boutique.
This is a glimpse of my boutique. Some things have changed because I got new displays. I hope my name gets out there and folks start coming here to shop for fun and reasonable gifts and jewelry.Monday, March 3, 2014
White lie cake
THE BAPTIST WHITE LIE
CAKE
CAKE
Have you ever told a white lie?
Alice Grayson was to bake a cake for the
Baptist Church Ladies' Group in Tuscaloosa , but forgot to do it until the last minute.
She remembered it the morning of the bake sale and after
rummaging through cabinets, found an angel food cake mix &
quickly made it while drying her hair, dressing, and helping her son pack for scout camp.

When she took the cake from the oven, the center had dropped flat
And the cake was horribly disfigured and she exclaimed,
"Oh dear, there is not time to bake another cake!"
So, being inventive, she looked around the house
for something to build up the center of the cake.
She found it in the bathroom - a roll of toilet Paper.
She plunked it in and then covered it with icing.
Not only did the finished product look beautiful, it looked perfect.
And, before she left the house to drop the cake by the church and head for work,
Alice woke her daughter and gave her some money and specific
instructions to be at the bake sale the moment it opened at 9:30 and to buy
the cake and bring it home.

When the daughter arrived at the sale, she found the attractive,
perfect cake had already been sold.
Amanda grabbed her cell phone and called her mom.
Alice was horrified-she was beside herself! Everyone would know!

What would they think? She would be ostracized, talked about, ridiculed!
All night, Alice lay awake in bed thinking about people pointing fingers at her

The next day, Alice promised herself she would try not to think about the cake

And would attend the fancy luncheon/bridal shower at the home of a fellow church member
and try to have a good time. She did not really want to attend
because the hostess was a snob who more than once had looked down her
nose at the fact that Alice was a single parent and not from the
founding families of Tuscaloosa , but having already RSVP'd , she
couldn't think of a believable excuse to stay home.

The meal was elegant, the company was definitely upper crust old south and to Alice 's
horror, the cake in question was presented for desert!

Alice felt the blood drain from her body when she saw the cake!
She started out of her chair to tell the hostess all about it, but before she could get to her feet,
the Mayor's wife said, "what a beautiful cake!"

Alice , still stunned, sat back in her chair when she heard the hostess
(who was a prominent church member) say,
"Thank you, I baked it myself."
Alice smiled and thought
to herself,
to herself,
"God is good."

Getting ready for a face book Paparazzi online $5.00 jewelry party
When I do a face book online Paparazzi $5.00 party there is quite a bit of preparation. I must get photos of each piece I am going to list and I also separate the listed pieces so that I know I have them when the party starts. This is what my next party board looks like.
This is going to be my sister Roberta's party on March 11 at 7:00 pm. Feel free to join the party.

Another new dispaly
I can hang twenty necklaces on each twirl a tie. I then slip the top through the lid of a number ten can and lower the necklaces into the can for transport. I needed a way to hang the necklaces for display. I just need to buy the end caps for the display and paint it. Normally when I hang the twirl a ties filled with necklaces I take the lid part off, I didn't this time because I was just seeing if my display would work. I glued the bottom pieces of the PVC but the rest I did not glue. I am hoping I can take the riser part apart for transport if I need to.
I also need to find paint made specifically for plastic because the regular spray paint I've been using chips and doesn't stay nice looking.
