Should Christians have a Christmas tree? This is a subject I have been studying.

A few years ago, we made the decision to not have a Christmas tree, partly because of that Scripture in Jeremiah, and partly because, frankly, it does not have a place in Christ's birth, or the Gospel message of salvation.
Instead, we decorate a wall with Scriptures and such, and put our presents by that wall. We call it our Scripture wall.
We don't do Christmas trees, Santa Claus, or any of that jazz, we celebrate Christ, and Christ alone. :-)
