Thank you for sharing this. I have a question. I don't understand what the second bin is for. Is it just a collection area for worm castings that fall through? He said something about switching them when one of them gets "full"? Also.. where do you buy worms?
Thank you for your replies on my blog. Ok, so you are saying that when the top bin gets pretty full, he switches it with the second bin, the worms leave that one and go upstairs for greener pastures. But if the first bin were full, it wouldn't fit, would it? I am sorry to be such a bother. I really do want to understand this. I tried vermiculture once, using one plastic bin, but it didn't work out too well. I don't think I really understood then either. I have a place where I just cold compost outside - 2 side by side bins made from old wooden pallets and wired together with coat hangers (my invention ~ not my perfectionist husbands!) and so I do have some compost to use each Spring, but I like this idea too, and anyway, I love fooling around with new ideas and learning new things all the time. I'll never forget the time I raised silk worms. It was a very small project, and I just wanted to try it. Jim said that he was the only man he knew that had a wife who would, at 11 o'clock at night suddenly sit up in bed and say, "Gasp! I forgot to feed my worms!" :)
