Alvin, Texas

The girls and I made it to Alvin, Texas at about 8:30pm last evening. The trip was uneventful, thankfully.
Monday morning Bill, Christina and I went to the fresh fruit and vegetable market. Bill bought about $32.00 worth of veggies. Then we came home and Bill cooked us chicken fried steak with sweet potatoes, fresh green beans, asparagus, corn on the cob, scallions, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, and green peppers.

Some of our plans for this trip are to do a lot of Thrift shop shopping. Go to Galveston and ride on the Ferry and walk on the beach.

Pick fresh strawberries.

I would also like to go to the Blue Bell ice cream factory and see if they make powdered milk. I may just call them.

I am hoping to pay a visit to the LDS cannery in Houston.

We are trying to think of things to do that don't cost a lot of money and are family friendly.

Joy said something about a museum. The museum of natural science which is something we may do while the little girls are in school.

If you know of fun things to do in the Alvin/Houston Texas area please leave a comment.

Hi there,
I live in Houston and there are some cool cheap things to do. San Jacinto Battleground and battleship is free for kids under 12, but adults have to pay.

Houstom Museum Nature and Science is free on Tuesdays after 2 pm.

www.houstonaudobon.org is free - it's a nature sanctuary with a restored log cabin.

Hermann park downtown is free, with a water playground and kids can fish for free and don't need a license. There's a free log cabin museum in Hermann park, too.

The Holocaust Museum is always free.

Have a great time!

LOL! Most of my Texas family lives in Alvin & Rosharon! Small world, eh?

If you happen upon the Wal-Mart and see a dude in the plant section with crazy long hair and a name badge that says "Kenny" tell him his older sister yays "hey!"

When we visit we always go to Kemah and Galveston... Have fun!!!

Hey Lambchop and Milehimama,
Thanks for the info. I will make some plans from the information you have provided. If you think of other places let me know.
I will look for your brother, Kenny when we go to Wal Mart. Its not too far from here.
We are staying at our friends/pastors home. Bill is pastor at the Alvin, Aposolic Faith Church on Lang street.
